Naval Ops: Commander Empty
PostSubject: Naval Ops: Commander   Naval Ops: Commander EmptyTue Jan 19, 2010 11:36 pm

Name: Naval Ops: Commander
Genre: Strategy, Adventure

Naval Ops: Commander 452321-naval_ops_commander_67_95_large

Story: 5/10 (7/10 before)

HUH. Not much on the story actually. The game play makes up for it though. Well, I'll try to explain the story. No actually, I am having a hard time of the story. Let's make it 5/10 because there isn't much of the story. Story. . . . You were first a retreating ship then you get reinforcements. You start attacking bases, destroying ships so that it won't be used, and you also Defend or escort a ship through battle. But in every end of a scenario, there's this unusually big and large Ship attacking you, and you have no idea how it was made. So you keep on going through the missions, until you find the commander of the enemy.

Gameplay: 9/10

In Naval Ops: Commander you play as a Ship. Doesn't that sound boring? Well it does sound boring but it isn't when you start playing. You make a blueprint for your ship and use that ship for battle. You upgrade your technology of Armaments, Airplanes, Engines and many more. You buy guns for your ships or just pick one up when you destroy a ship. But everything lies on how you design your ships. This actually makes up for the story. You also play it in Bird's Eye View. You don't go around the world finding missions though. After a mission, you go back to base. While your in base, you can upgrade and do stuff. Then it will just lead you to your next mission.

note: when I mean design, you just design the ship of where to place your guns, engines etc.

Music: 5/10

You will be annoyed actually. The music when there's a boss? SAME THING. The music when you get destroyed? it will keep on repeating the music when you get destroyed. So it's like 4 tunes. WIN, LOSE, VICTORY, BOSS. that's all.

Graphic: 8/10

Graphic's good. They're not like pixels. And when you destroy a ship, it doesn't just sink. It breaks THEN it sinks. The explosion's also graphical. AND your ship, the way you designed it, will show how you designed it. In menu, you can also see your ship, how you made it and stuff.

Pros:
arm a ship with guns and beat a hell out of the enemies.
A LOT OF MISSIONS.
Very Fun when you equip your ship with good guns.
It's like arcade. but with every different objective.
In the end you get a F'ing big laser beam canon. 1 shot, 1 kill.
Bosses are kinda hard so just to make it fair.
Wide Variety of guns.
Wide Variety of ships too.

Cons:
repeating music
Not much for the story

Overall: 8/10

No story? WHO CARES. it has good graphics and a WIDE variety of guns. It's like arcade. Eventually in the end, you will find this game VERY FUN. especially with that double-hull battle ship and a lot of guns.

Recommended for strategic people and who find customizing a ship fun. LIKE ME. Very Happy

Is this game panel system as well? Like FF tactics and Advance Wars?

Nah. It isn't like FF tactics. In FF tactics you move in squares right? And you have a limited moves there. But in Naval Ops: Commander, you move freely, change the speeds, go anywhere but not out of the map.

It has a Fuel capacity though but usually, it won't get wasted very easily.

Also, The Armaments have limited ranges.

You can move the Crosshair freely around the map, but your ship won't follow the crosshair.

You will have to move your ship by yourself, moving left and moving right.

An example of designing your ship is the picture below "(my stupid review.hahahaha)"

You don't design the hull though. You would have to either buy one or pick one up when you destroy a ship.

Ah nice.
So basically this game is a strategy game, though not in panel system nor is it turn based.
Hmmm.... I need to give this a try.
